i work as a handpoke tattoo artist based in san francisco. i’m from venezuela, grew up in mexico, and have lived in the US for most of my life now.

my practice explores the tension between randomness/deliberate action::surrender/control — i turn to the subconscious mind as a source of inspiration.

to create tattoo flash, i first make improvised drawings with ink on paper, using intuition as my guiding force — think impulsive, expressive, gestural movements.

then, i trace over sections of these ink drawings to make new designs. this process of rearranging parts is like collage — slow and calculated, lots of shifting and layering.
